|
|
Greetings. I pulled my floor console surrounding my A/T shifter in order to reach the three ports supposedly located there to try to get codes out of the Digifant II system. I thought I'd find 3 there (1 for the airbag (red) and 2 for the Digifant II (1 black, 1 white)). There were only 2. Not 3. A red one and a black one.
Is it possible that one of you could explain this and instruct me on how to get codes out of this Digifant II system? I attached a light bulb to two leads and stuck 1 lead in the brown (ground) terminal on the black port, and the other lead in the red terminal on the black port or plug, but the bulb just lit up, never flashed. I waited the usual 5 seconds, etc.
Car will start, idles very rough, shuts back down after maybe 10 seconds of running.
Engine was doing the same thing before mothballing it some years ago. Just finished installing new fuel tank, sending unit, 2 fuel pumps, fuel filter, all new hoses to the engine. Having the fuel system replaced, I now want to tackle analyzing the engine rough running problem. |

I believe the only Cabriolet's [if it is a 93, it's not a Cabrio] that could set codes, were California versions and they are Digi 1. Digi 2 were not capable of setting/storing codes.
Do not rely on me, there are more knowledgeable people here to set you straight. |

Thanks for your reply Butcher. I'm interested in your comment about what it is -- wondering why if it's a '93 it's not a Cabrio. It is a '93, it's badged and identified everywhere as a Cabriolet (as well as "Wolfsburg," "Karmann," and "Collector's Edition") and even the owner's manual refers to it as a Cabriolet.
The VIN contains the "B" code for Digifant II, which is proper for this year non-California Cabriolet.
Anyway, if you have more details on why I should not refer to this '93 version as a Cabriolet, enlighten me. Thanks! |

The topic says '93 Cabrio. It's misleading. I know I stand alone on this. A Cabriolet looks like a Golf 1/Rabbit and a Cabrio looks like a Mk3 Golf.
In the end, you can call it anything you want to call it but when you ask for help, facts help. It's not a Cabrio. |

No, it isn't.
1993 + Digifant are your immediate clues as to what era the car is.
This is pointless, narcissistic drivel rooted in ignorance. This BS does not occur when it's a hatchback being discussed: "It's a Rabbit." "No, it's a Golf!" GMAFB _________________ ~Kamz
