I'd have to go out and remove them. I don't recall ever changing them but really who knows what history before I got the car.
I have to ask, is there is reason for this question? I mean, Yeah I'll go and pop a couple off and take some photos, but I don't think they are any different than other years from the early-mid 60s. _________________ Andy T.

I do not know how to fix this. All I can say is it all works fine for me with what I use, Firefox. |

These were given to me by someone I working with in San Diego a few years ago. I don't know the year they are from.
They were of no use to me as I have a newer Beetle, so I passed them along to another member in my club here.

just my observation:
- the flat top bolts I had on my very untouched 1950 split beetle
- the large dimpled top bolts have been on all my 1961 model years I had, there have been three very untouched cars.
- never saw the little dimpled tops. |

I've read and observed that flat top 12mm lugs were stopped in 58/59, and then the hollow head lugs were introduced.
There are some differences among the flat top type lugs, but I have never noticed differences in the later lugs with the hollow head. (not to say there isn't a difference, but I looked through my pail of spares and they're all the same) _________________ modok wrote:

wouldn't they be the same as bus ones and change design at similar dates?

IIRC there is a thread somewhere here on The Samba about the various wheel bolts. Personally, I can vouch for:
Short flat top bolts still in use on May 1960 Beetle.
Short deep-dish bolts in use on Nov 1962 Type 3. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"
