Yeah, I don't care about that but I like his ladders. Still waiting for a reply from him. He doesn't seem to be around on FB other than a page with little comments and I don't see him in any groups. _________________ "Blanch" '85 Westy

Don't count on that. I fought hard for a fraudulent order of "$300 of sippy cups". Visa denied my claim, and would not produce an invoice of what I 'bought', nor proof of shipping - nothing. Just denied, 4 times.
Each time- calling on the phone takes at least an hour to get to a supervisor, who takes the info then denied again. Credit card doesn't necessarily protect the payer.
But anyway, it's better to do your homework first and decide whether to buy it, then buy it.
Credit card chargeback if you don't receive it.
Not just because you don't like some aspect..... that you could have investigated more thoroughly (pre-warned that they don't understand materials-selection).
That's my take.... _________________

Correct - though I've had more luck than not with a claim - but it wasn't always successful....then there is the 60-day claim period which can be tough for a product with a long delivery time.
I've had good luck with PayPal claims though. _________________ 83.5 Westy with Subaru 2.5, 4 spd manual, center seat, COLD A/C on 134a!, Winter camp heated with an Espar B4 gasoline furnace

Does anyone know where the 'warehouse' is located? The website has no indication which is a little suspicious. _________________ Vanagon ’83 diesel AAZ w/Giles injection, 5spd 4.57R&P+TBD and a '78 diesel Rabbit |

I am the owner of Flagwerks.com
I sold over hundred of ladders now, and shipped to many states in the US so far. (California, Florida, Texas, Oregon, Washington) even Taiwan this week.
I started in Canada few years ago, but my website is just few months old.
I do it with passion and I don't have any negative comments, other than one for the hardware, which is a personal opinion.
I hope it can dispel the doubts about my website _________________ FLAGWERKS.COM

That rear hatch ladder is really nice. I say go for it! The guy is making parts for a niche van, and has responded to your post, seems legit enough to move forward. |

Any estimate what it'll cost to ship a ladder to the USA? Unfortunately you have to give all your personal information to even get a quote. _________________ Vanagon ’83 diesel AAZ w/Giles injection, 5spd 4.57R&P+TBD and a '78 diesel Rabbit |

If you don't want to give out your personal address use a random nearby address in your zip code for the shipping quote. _________________ - Jim

You do have nice products and reputation, but my comment about the hardware has nothing to do with opinion, it's called electrolysis. I installed solar panels for years using stainless and aluminum, that's just how things are supplied, I can tell you that shit is real and you don't want that happening here. Just supply stainless rivnuts, they're not more expensive when you buy a 100 of them, there's even some with very low profile shoulder, useful for some applications.
Apply antiseize on the threads, and it will outlast anything else on the van. _________________ Silicone Steering Boots and 930 Cv boots for sale in the classifieds.

Use a magnesium antiseize if you can find it[1] - but anything is better than nothing, as stainless-stainless can gall so badly they cannot be fully tightened or undone.
[1] A British Airways aircraft engineer friend of mine in the UK said that the sediment in a Milk of Magnesia bottle is ideal. Go figure! _________________ Jim Crowther

There is no free lunch with stainless hardware, even with special lubricants and slow tightening sequence the hardware can gall(cold weld) and make the fastener useless. Once the hardware has galled drilling to remove is difficult and carbide or cobalt drill bits are needed. The stainless fasteners that i have attempted to remove often gall and snap.
The flagwerks product line does look good with fair prices. Features like a full aluminum ladder or the brace leg for the fog light bracket show they are trying to do make better products. |
