That's a really nice writeup with history. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

For those of you needing keys (and who are not fussy that it be an original German Flora-made one), my locksmith used an Ilco 997 ER and filed it down a bit to work. There's one pin that catches slightly, but isn't an issue. This is for a 166TS from the late 70s, H key code.
Don't know if they'll sell direct, but this site has some profile pics of other keys to try:

Hello everybody
some first photos of the locking mechanism of a Hazet Assistent 160 (1954).
Only the locking mechanism has 21 parts.
dismantled locking mechanism under the table top with the two rods in the columns for locking:
dismantled lock:
the key turns a disc with 2 sliders - the bitting is unused - only need to fit to the disc:

I wish you a Merry Christmas,

Hello again,
I'm still in the process of stripping (including post-lacquered rust protection as ugly red lead priming coat ) and de-rusting of my 1954 "Hazet Assistent 160"...
Some more details as these inscription at top:
"DBP u Auslandspatente angem" ("German federal patent" and "Foreign patents pending"):
Furthermore, a "92" (serial number?) and at both sides an unknown character like a tick similar to a 4 or the side flanks of the Hazet logo:

Hello again,
the nameplate of my 1954 "Hazet Assistent 160" at the mid floor...
Like many of its age, it lacks the clamped-on front mask with window (I will try to rebuild this later).
There are two recesses on the side, in which the front mask grips (I found photos of front masks also with recesses there).
The base plate with a width of 45 mm (1.8") was not screwed on, but fastened with sheet metal rivets.

Well, tis no Rademacher, but it works, and it was $6 at Habitat ReStore for the light, $25 for the rechargeable power brick, and 30 minutes of time and some JB Weld!
Also, no worries about slicing the cord and putting 120V into the cart...

Hello again everyone,
a new addition to my 1954 "Hazet Assistent 160" project:
an old Rademacher 12-304 lamp also sold as Hazet 1615 with a switch over the lampshade to the front (instead of later from 1967 upwards) in black as in the Hazet catalogs 1954 to before 1963 (in the 1963 catalog it is in grey, e.g. back of catalogue). It needs some work, better a new cable and a new rubber cap to protect the switch from dust and humidity... It is enameled, not painted - to be able to use the old hot 200 Watt light bulbs (seen in an old Rademacher ad - but have also seen stickers on such lamps with only 60 Watts?!?).
1954 catalog page 32: Assistent 160 with stool 1610 and this kind of lamp 1615

Took a spare bucket and made something for my kids to enjoy at car shows. Next thing is to convert it to RC so I can control it and make seat for trailer. Only so many ways you can get your kids into old tool boxes! 😂
