What happened? Accident with another car or ?

It may be worth a dedicated thread about it?

That is all the info I know of the accident. Maybe someone from Florida knows more.

interesting how they carefully removed the roof rack then set about cutting the cab and roof away Shocked guy must have been in agony not only from injuries but also watching his bus being carved up...

It says he was conscious so I'm sure they told him they were cutting it apart to get him out. You're smashed up in there with two broken legs and other injuries. I'm sure you're in a lot of pain, do you say "don't cut the rack", "it comes off easily." ???????

I don't see the nose or the doors in the carnage....

There's a door in the lower left of that photo

Maybe the rack shot off the roof in the impact?

The guy told me he wrecked this car in the mid 80's. He hit the center beam between a dump truck and its pup trailer, when the truck lost control on an icy road. The guy walked away from the wreck unscathed somehow. He is still alive and kicking in his early 80's.

April 62 deluxe bus wrecked by drunk driver in March 64. I was a very sad kid, loved that bus even at 9 years old. Started me on a life long attachment to them.
Mom's note on the back says "3-24-64 It was totally demolished. All that was left was the seat belts and the cars tool kit."

Damn, that is Wrecked!
Was your dad ok?

The toolkit is probably worth more now than they got for the Bus from insurance.

Dad had a small concussion from his head hitting the drivers door glass divider. Had blurry vision for a short time but otherwise was ok. Fortunately had seat belts for the front seat.
The bus spun around after getting hit and smashed backwards into a telephone poll. You can see how leaned over the bus was by the angle of the crush across the rear of the bus. Broke the pole off about 3 feet off the ground.
Really wish they would have saved some of the stuff like the tool kit, owners manual etc.

Cool, that was lucky.
Glad he had seat belts since that was probably uncommon in '62

My '63 Bus has them too, same thing - front seats only, original owner installed

That looks like the Jolly Green Giant copped a squat on it.
