Serious answers only please. I am considering shipping my van from Seattle to Ireland next year 🍀 Is anyone interested in sharing a container? I'll be in Europe for a few months. _________________ '90 White Westy ("The Longship")

Sam, that sounds like a great adventure, looking for further details of the trip!
What time of the year are you planning to travel around Europe? _________________ 87 Syncro Westy EJ25 ("Tardis")

Barely not: A standard height 40-foot long container's exterior dimensions are: 40' long x 8' wide x 8'6” high.
I'm going by container because you can pack it full of your stuff. Ro-Ro, the vehicle must be empty. I'm thinking of April or May 2024. I'll find the Ireland Syncro FB group.
I'll be on the east coast this summer; going to Maine to FAS, see my daughters in NH, then down to Baltimore to visit a friend, then to Pittsburgh area for a re-enactment event. We should meet up somewhere . . . _________________ '90 White Westy ("The Longship")

I'm thinking April or May of 2024. Researching the costs, etc. I've been to Ireland many years ago and it's a great place to start. I'll post any details or costs I discover in my plans. _________________ '90 White Westy ("The Longship")

I am planning on finally shipping the euroBus RORO this August to Antwerp. May be interested in your route. Can the container handle a 8’-10” NAHT? |
How about like this?

Here's an idea from TigerBus. At about the 4:12 mark of the video, they remove the wheels and put on what look like oversized, backwards rotors (or something like that) to bring the height down enough to load it into a shipping container:

The last time I looked, Northern Ireland to Scotland was in the £100 range, about half that of England to France (car plus two people). _________________ Jim Crowther

If you need to pack it full, sure a container is the way to go.
But the van doesn't actually have to be empty to go Ro-Ro.
They tell you that so you can't file a claim for missing items.
I shipped Ro-Ro both ways with our stuff inside, just mostly out of sight.
On the ship the van is unlocked with the key zip-tied to the steering wheel.

We have in mind to ship to UK/Europe in the next year or two/three. This is dependent on how long the last two aged kitties hang on, but our timings might converge, who knows! We'd be using a container as well. But we're not making any plans just yet. _________________ Jim Crowther

So far, somewhere between $2k and 2500 USD each way. _________________ '90 White Westy ("The Longship")

Never been to Ireland but everything I read and photos I see make me want to go.
Drop dead gorgeous in photos.
According to my Mother, her family comes from Castle Balfour generations ago.

I lived there for almost 2 years and have to agree.
The only downside is, especially around larger cities like Dublin, most parkings have a height barriers preventing any van to enter as well automatic gates to lock them for night. As everything is a private property often the roads have walls on both sides. Legally camping out of campgrounds is illegal unless this changed recently.
People are generally friendly and roads are fine.
Ferries: It depends where you want to go.
Northern Ireland - Scotland
Dublin - Wales Holyhead as was mentioned above is short.
Dublin - Liverpool is an option too
Rosslare - Cherbourg FR which is like 24h or Fishguard UK
In summer there was a ferry to Spain (Santander) as well.
I want to come back there one day. _________________ T3 Syncro camper in progress |

Here's the best offer so far:
Their writeup even specifies it must APPEAR empty (everything put away). The company has a very good record and many good reviews.
Planning continues . . . _________________ '90 White Westy ("The Longship")
