It does look like you'll have much "roof" left once you're done cutting. Laughing That 2nd layer looks fairly thick though. I'm waiting to see how you do that end, as you'll still have to mount the sun visors on the ends.

OK, that makes more sense, now that I see the shape that you're trying to recreate. Having never seen a t-34 convertible in the wild before, I'm living thru what you're doing and off some of your pics.

Wheels and Tires Time
Rim Black

In 1962 ALL Type 34s came Tone Tone Rims and Wheel Base, Hubcaps
And Lemmerz Rings vs 1961-63 Type 3 Two Tone Rims and Wheels and Hubcaps

1963 All Type 34s came with Beauty Rings SAME
As Type 3 but until 1964 S models
So for the reason these Beauty Rings are stamped 341
Are because are T34s were introduced first

If this confused you
Read it again but slower Cool

I'm really loving it. It looks like the top frame will tuck down into the body when folded down, versus sticking up and blocking rear vision. That's always been one of my complaints about how VW set up the convertibles...the top laying out in the open blocking rearward vision. I could see it on a bug or a golf, as there's no rear over hang on those models. But even on a standard T-14 or a T-3 vert (from early pics of them), they set the top mechanism on the body behind the opening. I always thought that took away from the clean body lines of the cars.

I’m living the R&D Pedro, the learning and the modifications to make it sit right. It’s hard to get this right which is why on almost every VW converted to a convertible it looks awful and really lets the car down. This, on the other hand is going to look awesome!!!

Man,
I am loving this! The effort to build this is tremendous I started building a notch coupe and struggled with the side glass, seeing you work thru the top and side glass is very cool!
Thanks for sharing!

Now that is something. Cool I like how the top frame will tuck inside. It's definitely getting close to being reality. Very nice work Pedro.
Who's doing the top material?

Seeing this first hand Saturday was a huge treat. Every modification is done so well. Everything lines up and the structure is extremely ridged. Seeing a working VW top on it that fits well and moves freely.

A 25 year old dream a reality right in front of your face.
