Has anyone ever measured the fuel level in the tank with a wooden "dip stick" to see what it reads at 1/2,1/4, reserve? I know my gauge is off but wonder what the level should show when I'm on reserve with a correct fuel gauge ...
1 inch...2 inches...?

As the sketch indicates, resistance from the fuel sender is fairly linear over its distance of travel.
However because of the irregular shape of the fuel tank, the fuel volume represented by a given distance of float travel is anything but linear.
