As most on here agree, the galley lid/cover in the Winnebago Camper is not the most efficient, since you have to have the entire lid up just to wash your teeth, or while you are cooking (when you might not need access to the sink).
I'd love to split the galley cover down the middle so that either side could be lifted independently. I'd assume that since there's a gas strut at either end, that each half should stay up by itself with no issue. This would be a quick little fix to the issues described above without a complete remodel like others on the site have down.
Wondering if anyone has ever done this simple split hack before? If I can figure out how to cut the metal with a proper fiinish, I'll probably give it a go. The hardest part will be cutting the back metal hinge that the lid slides into. |

Funny, I was just asking about this mod a few weeks ago. After camping with another EVC this weekend, I'm opting to just delete mine. If I were to keep it, I'd definitely cut it in half. _________________ Casey--

Somewhere along the line on this forum, someone started a thread about their EVC interior makeover, which featured custom woodwork replacements for all the panels. It was pretty skilled woodwork. I think that same OP split his galley in half. For the life of me, I can't find it. If someone does, please link it here.

Thanks Kourt - his posts were in the What Did You Do To Your EV Today Thread that is pinned. Here's the photo below. This is exactly what I want to do. Now just to figure out the best way to divide the sucker.
