Anyone else see Schwarber's 3-run single yesterday? I'd never seen one before. After a heavy rain and with the bases loaded, Schwarber grounded a ball that made it thru the infield and then slowed to almost a stop before reaching the left fielder. Because the play was in front of him, the LF was able to hold Schwarber to first base.

Congratulations to Fred McGriff on his election to the HOF. He had 30 HR seasons with 5 different MLB teams. Interestingly, all 6 of the HOF members on the election committee played either with him or against him. That seems like a better way to evaluate talent.

I think the Pirates should hire my adult daughter to manager Derek Shelton as bunting instructor, would be very useful and maybe help win 6 games a year.

And fastpitch softball has used the runner on second in its extra innings for decades, and visiting teams ALWAYS (note capitals) bunt the runner to third to start the inning. And the home team does similar if visitors score 0 or 1.
