Hello everyone. This is my first post so forgive me if this is in the wrong spot. This forum is awesome and it's helped me so much since I have started my vw project. I'm working on a 1974 VW sand rail with a 1600. It's street legal and going to be a great time. Alternator is not currently charging the battery. It has an LED Indicator in the dash. I believe this is not providing enough current to excite the regulator. My question is can how can I wire a 194 bulb into the circuit but keep my LED functional in the dash. My LED light is small and better looking than the 194 so I would like to hide it and use the LED as the functional warning light. I appreciate the help fellas.
Current setup:
Main wire running to starter terminal
Ground to stud on frame
Switched ignition to LED
LED to excite wire |

Might try a modification of LED wiring...
