Are thermostats for a 78 2.0 really that hard to come by? None of the usual VW parts retailers carry them, apparently. Or maybe I’m not looking hard enough. I saw a few listed in the Samba Classifieds, but $150 for a part that probably cost $30 to make? Seems a bit high.

Missprint/misscue maybe? That seller has good items well priced in my experience. (that isn't one of them!)

Thats one of those bits that get tossed in the Porsche pile for spares. So if you see an ad for one directed at Porsche heads, well you get the picture.
