Hey everyone!
So in my 67 I have a mechanical fuel level sender. The float has filled with fuel and makes it read empty all the time.
I am having an issue finding a replacement float. All the places I see sell a whole new unit.
The unit is like 2 years old and works perfect outside of the float filling with fuel.
Have u found a replacement float or retro fitted a float from another vehicle? _________________ Check out my video log of my beetle! suby swapped!

Could try to fix the float.

That would change the float weight. It would be almost as bad as having it fill with fuel. _________________ Dave

I've not seen a replacement float offered by itself. Aftermarket complete senders with the float are less than $25 so not likely a big market. It would be easier to buy a new one -or- pull the float and shelf the new sender as a spare if you're set on using the existing sender. The alternative would be to watch the Classifieds or call one of the used parts places under Community>Businesses for a used one. _________________ Kafer_Mike

Floating is floating, no matter the weight of the thing that floats. _________________ Daily driver: '69 Baja owned 44 yrs - Plan B: '81 Rabbit Diesel LS Deluxe - Plan C: '72 Ghia

If it was a float for a carburetor the extra weight would be a problem. For the fuel tank float a little extra weight won't make much difference. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

It would float lower in the fuel (if not sink below the surface) and that would change the reading on the gauge. Of course, VW gauges aren't that accurate anyway so any difference may be academic. _________________ Dave
