Here's the white Panel van in this 1969 movie; Herbie has just zoomed past the hotrod in the street drag race.
There are two sightings of a velvet green Splittie- Here at the Riverside race, with Peter Thorndyke holding back Jim Douglas in Herbie with his Jaguar XKE Coupe:
And at Herbie's first race at Jackrabbit Springs (filmed at Willow Springs north of Lancaster, California), coming up on an Austin Healey 3000 and a Triumph Spitfire-
Also a distant but distinct sighting from the race announcer tower just before the start of the Riverside race. |

From "The Running Man" (1963) filmed in the country of Gibraltar. Main character Rex is actor Laurence Harvey (well known for "The Manchurian Candidate" (1962)). Scenes are at the border crossing from Spain into Gibraltar, with Rex driving a white Lincoln Continental convertible.
Likely the very same bus parked in town moments later-
And a red Deluxe Splittie parked at far right; same movie:

There is a movie out in theaters in the moment called "Wild" where the main character goes hiking for some odd 100 days or so. There are various times where she goes to camp grounds and there are bay windows and vanagons. When she goes to a main city there are a few split window buses and bays as well.
I cant find a screen grab since the movie is still in theaters. |
Rees Witherspoon hikes the PCT.

That ^^^ looks interesting.
Switching channels I saw A Warm December with Sidney Poitier about 15 minutes in a logo blue Panel goes by. I would bet there are a lot of Buses in it as it is on location in England.

I don't know; I'm not a splittie bus specialist. Could they be factory installed, linked to semaphores on European models which did not appear on US models? Might be a clue if you check and compare Euro vs US new car brochures in the Archives section.
Here are a few more splitties from "Beyond the door" 1974 movie:
