Hello all. I am thinking of purchasing a 1958 Beetle with a 1200 cc engine. Can someone please tell me the stock carburetor and distributor for this engine? I want to keep it stock. Thank you in advance!

The stock carb is a 28 PCI. It will have a manual choke. The oil bath air filter will not have a snorkel or preheat pipe. I don't know the distributor number off my head but it will have an iron (not aluminum) body and a vacuum can with a hard line to the carb.

Most importantly, the 1200 36 horse engine will have a built in generator stand. The later 1200 40 horse engine has a bolt on stand like later Bug engines. The stock transaxle will have a case bolted together lengthwise, like the engine.

I suggest coming back once you have the car. You will want to look at the engine in the car to see what is there. It could have been changed over the years.
