Interesting Picture. Tivoli beer was from Inrath, Krefeld which is in Germany. The license plate doesn't look like a normal post 1956 plate. does anybody know if this maybe is a German dealer/test plate ( similar to todays 07 plates) or maybe Belgian plates ? It could easily be red lettering on white plates.

I wonder why it doesn't have the typical German oval Customs plates, if it was exported to Belgium.

edit. Germany and Belgium were founding members of the European Economic Community in 1957, so that may be a reason for a customs tax exempt ?!?
The picture could have been taken well after that because the bus already appears to have some blinker turn signals added above the semaphores.

..those are Belgian plates, old style enamel plates. They were all replaced in 1954-55.

Maybe you missed this, but I had to sell the 53SC in favor of another VW a few years back to another avid Austrian BD collector. it is currently being restored, I hear it should be finished soon. The new owner knows the story and pics. but of course I hung onto your original copies, to hand them back to you. Actually they are sitting in the cabinet right behind my back and my computer desk. I can literally reach for them in a second. Let me know how to proceed. You had been gone missing on TS for quite some time ! glad to see you back !

Then we will wait for a personal meeting hopefully soon! would love to go on a Glockner tour again, but unfortunately the bus meeting has been canceled without a replacement event.

Anyone know where this is? Would be great to see what it looks like now, or maybe even what it looked like a decade before.

it's munich but not sure of the exact location, the shop on the right is 'strumpf ecke' or stocking corner Very Happy the dome looks like the verkehrsministerium which was off arnulfstrasse by the railway station but no longer exists.
this is a 1945 photo of that area

it was still there in the 50s

I saw this picture in a book which I did not buy, but I remembered the title: "München farbig 1946 - 1965". Here you can see some example pages:
https://www.stadtatlas-muenchen.de/newpageb768f7e3
Fortunately the page with this picture is also included. The caption says that it shows the junction between Elisenstrasse and Dachauer Strasse about 1955. The Elisenstrasse, which was bent to the south, was later straightened and widened to the north to make the transition to Marsstrasse. Today it looks completely different. I could not find a picture of the same perspective now, but this one shows the present situation also:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FbNP2g6XEAEq7tr?format=jpg&name=large
The dome is indeed the former Verkehrsministerium. At this place stands now the building of the Bayerischer Rundfunk.
