Hey all, I'll be needing to pull my dash and have been searching for pointers. Most of the search links from past contributions are dead. Does anyone have a working link for "Ben's Place" procedure on dash removal? Are there any other good informative links to help my pucker factor prior to diving in?? Thanks in advance.

Main concern is the blower motor. Obviously going to do some clean up and rodent proofing. Planning to look over all ground trees and any rust issues. Thinking of the Vanistan vent install and sound proofing. What am I forgetting??

Super easy to add some sound deadening in there while everything is out. I used some cheap self adhesive mats from the amazon.

Definitely do a thorough rehab and clean of all the grounds! In my excitement, I forgot that and in the last couple of weeks have had to troubleshoot two separate electrical issues that ended up being dirty grounds on the trees.

Also, don't do what I did and try to improve the routing of the windshield washer hoses. Mine now flop against the sheetmetal when the wipers are in motion. Rolling Eyes

I might also suggest converting to a Jeep fan resistor. Easier and cheaper to source a replacement and, my favorite reason, replaceable without pulling the dash if it ever goes out.

Good chatter here…also:

- lube wiper arm pivots
- inspect electric connections to wiper motor
- add “lube tube” to open bearing end of new blower motor
- clean (brake cleaner) & dry lube both ends of all heat control cables

It’s been awhile…what else…??? Confused

- Dave

Jeep resistor, FYI: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=623382

Excellent!! Here's the current list... What's missing??

General cleaning
Ground clean up (all)
Wiper motor(s) maintenance
Sound proofing/insulation
Mouse intrusion prevention
Blower motor replacement
Fan resistor
Lube tubes for future blower maintenance
Heater cable(s) inspection (lube)
Clutch pedal pin (inspection/replacement)
VaniStan vent install (can be done w/o dash removal but....)
Headlight relay (same)
