I was working on the front of the car and decided to finally, after 10 years, replace the hose under the tank and to the body.
It was Continental GERMAN braided hose.
The dashes are from the razor cutting it open. It is not cracked to split in any place. It is harder than new but still flexible.

That's pretty good.
Most car tires don't last that long. _________________ '72 Beetle |

Where did you buy that? The ends of my braided hoses crack and split after only a year or two. I make them longer than necessary so I can cut 1/4"-1/2" off the ends every year. _________________ 36hp '56 European DeLuxe oval, '70 bug 1835cc dual 36DRLA, and a '98 4x4 5spd single cab Tacoma |

I replaced that hose on my 1970 bug when I resurrected it in 2016; that hose was the factory one still (I know because I bought the 1970 back in 1972). _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Thats about normal for that hose 10-15 years ago. I used the Continental braided hose exclusively for a long time. It was hard to beat.
I hear a wide range of positive and negative now....mixed.
I also do not believe its JUST the alcohol in the fuel....as some people find some of their Continental hose is decently pliable and some is cracked. I am betting that when they find some cracked and brittle.... the hose that was in engine compartment heat is worse off.

I agree..
15/20 years the german braided hose was good.
The stuff thats been sold over the last 5years or so is lucky if it lasts a year. |

You got me thinking that it's time I replace my old lines too.
Thanks for the info and link!
Actually never heard of Belmetric. It's looks like a terrific resource. It's now bookmarked. |

I used that exact Belmetric fuel line a year or so ago and it seems nice and still looks great. Great site for metric hardware also. _________________ '68 Bug

Found this topic and wanted to inquire how the Belmetric ID 6mm and OD11mm has been working for everyone.
I'm about to pull my engine and am going to replace all the soft lines and relocate my filter outside of the engine bay. |

Still works for me. Its the only hose I use on engines I build.

In fall of 2019 I switched my '64 Bug and trike to Belmetric braided hose. It started leaking spring of 2022. It didn't crack on the ends, but in the middle on any of the curved sections of hose, the straight sections didn't have any cracks. _________________ Kenneth

A few weeks ago, noticed a piece of fuel line was leaking, my notes say I replaced this line 15 years ago.
I replaced with new braided hose, and added a rubber hose as protector.

Get some proper closed band clamps or oetikers to finish that off. _________________ .ssS! |

Original link gave me a 404 error but I think this is the same stuff:
https://belmetric.com/m6x11-braided-flennor-multifuel-hose-rhm6braid/
After hearing bad things about the JBugs stuff I have I think I will order 3 feet of the Belmetric.
Edit: What size hose clamp do you use? Belmetric lists a 10.5mm and a 11.5mm _________________ '69 Beetle (pieces)
