You would need a loop that was something like 35 feet high to break the siphon.

35 feet? If i told you once i told you a million times "do not exaggerate" I wrapped my head around it and you are right. I guess i don't understand electric fuel pumps being able to pass fuel when not running.

That would depend on the pump design, something I will let others comment on.
