Hey y’all, I know this probably a stupid question but what size is the nut on the steering column. I have a picture attached just so you can see exactly what I’m talking about. Thank you for the help!

Well, you neglected to state what year the VW is.
My 1970 VW's steering wheel nut takes a 27mm socket.
My 1971 VW's steering wheel nut takes a 27mm socket.
Newer might be different.... _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70. It *should* be 27mm.
You can always measure across the flats with your micrometer to check. _________________ 1965 Volkswagen 1500 Variant S

Later Beetles (‘73 or ‘74-later?) used a 24mm socket to remove the nut. _________________ AshMan40
