I’m a complete Beetle newbie, but I just bought a 69 Beetle. While looking around the engine, I see a cracked part, which I believe I have correctly identified as a fuel pump flange. If this is something else, please let me know. Is replacing it as simple as buying a new one, and popping it in? Anything I should be concerned with before attempting this?
Hopefully the photo posts properly.

Pretty simple to replace, only problem is the aftermarket ones are not always the correct height. So a shorter one will raise the fuel pressure and a taller one will raise it.

I’ve bought good used one of these intermediate flanges. I’ve also posted the heights in one of the threads here.

While removing, it is not uncommon for the bottom tail part of the flange to break off. If it breaks, search on here on how to remove broken bit. When installing a new one, sand down that part a bit for an easy fit so that it will come out easily if you need to remove in the future.

The critical measurement is how much the fuel pump rod sticks up above the fuel pump stand at its highest travel point. As Glenn mentioned, those fuel pump stands can be different thicknesses.

Install the replacement stand. Don't forget to put a gasket between it and the case. Make sure it's fully down. Shove a 108mm pushrod in it and turn the crank over until the rod reaches its highest travel point. You want it sticking up 13mm above the stand. If your rod is exactly 108mm and it's not sticking up 13mm but say 12.5mm, you can pull the stand off and sand off whatever measurement to hit the 13mm.

Here’s the table I put together. Bill later said he had one that was 13.81 and had VW Audi logo on it.
