Hello all,

I just bought a non-running 912E. I have had a number of busses with type 4 motors and have rebuilt three in the last five years. Those were bus engines. I'm interested if anyone could give me a good rundown of what they think is going on here. I know it's missing the engine carrier (somebody rigged up a weird way to mount it temporarily in the engine bay. I just found a used carrier to replace it) and I have a donor type 4 for a number of smaller pieces. To my mind it looks brand new. I'm guessing the gauge at the top is fuel pressure. Any help/expertise will be welcome!

I have the fan housing. It's not on there because the PO fabricated a weird way to suspend the engine in the bay because of a missing engine carrier. I found a used engine carrier from Einmalig and got all of the missing hardware from you at Auto Atlanta. I also had to get a fan from Avery's Aircooled. I noticed that the oil pump was missing as well unless he was going to put in a different oil pump. I have an extra one from a donor engine I have sitting around. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a new thermostat, which costs.

I've never dealt double barrel dual webers. I'm sure they improve performance, but I wish they had kept the original FI.

you'll need the rear tin (or front according to who you talk to) that goes under the fan housing, these are hard to find along with all other 912e tin, i believe there are two metal brackets that bolt to the engine mounts and the case you'll need also

performance is relative with these engines or really any of these older 911/912s in stock or near stock configuration.... stock 912E is slow, modified E is slow, they're all slow.... I focused on getting the mechanicals on mine 100% and after that was done I found it a joy to drive as long as you temper your expectations of the thing, great MPG, great handling, pretty easy to maintain, engine is relatively cheap to rebuild vs. a 911 and still has all the looks

FYI, the 1976 912E is actually a 923.

A 923? I have not heard that before. Was this an internal Porsche code?

Hello DrSAX1974,
as I see you need the set of the technical stickers in your engine bay.
