^ I have a nearly identical shot from Van der Valk in my gallery, though I enhanced it to do away with the vertical image compression.
Here are a few more Type 2 from that series:
Parked at Amsterdam canal, season 2 episode 5, 1973. Main character Dutch police detective played by Barry Foster in center.
Intro from S3E6, 1977. |

36 hp engine, TV movie "The Love Bug" (1997) with former Herbie owner Jim Douglas (Dean Jones) in the orange driving suit. Main character Hank Cooper played by Bruce Campbell in center.
Still photo of Porsche engine in the 1963 Beetle sunroof Herbie shown in the movie "The Love Bug" (1969). Although this photo was an "Easter Egg" in the DVD for this movie, this particular shot is from the YouTube video "That loveable Bug" (2003). Man at right is the main stunt driver for the original movie, industry legend Carey Loftin. The scene in The Love Bug during the ElDorado race where Herbie hits the large log on the road and Peter Thorndyke lands into Herbie's trunk, you can briefly see Mr. Loftin driving as Jim Douglas' (Dean Jones) stunt double. Mr. Loftin was also credited as the unseen truck driver in the movie "Duel".
Yellow Splittie Kombi hotdog vendor bus with side windows painted over, TV show "The A-Team" episode "When you coming back Range Rider", 1983. The old man is main character Hannibal Smith (George Peppard) in disguise.
White late Ghia Cabrio parked, TV show "T.J. Hooker" S3E10 "Blue Murder" 1983.
Splittie Dual Cab pickup at Los Angeles International Airport (airport code LAX) terminal road, YouTube movie "LAX in the 1960s". |

3 Splittie buses on a freeway, YouTube program "Arizona Memories of the 1970s".
Light green Splittie Microbus behind actress Barbara Anderson, 1970's TV show "Harry O" season 1 episode 11 "Material Witness".
Early Splittie pickup at airport, German documentary "Die Deutsche Bundeswehr 1956" translated The German Military.
Red Standard Splittie bus in background, YouTube documentary "Eye on LA- Frank and Gail Zappa- The legends of Laurel Canyon", ca. 2013. |

I pulled up and watched the Starsky & Hutch pilot (1975] on YT yesterday. Quite a few VWs in it. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Beetle Karmann Cabrio in TV Movie "Lots of Luck" (1985), starring Annette Funicello and Martin Mull. Cabrio appears to be a 1960 (choke knob to right of ashtray), which usually needs to be push-started- even by her kids. Filmed in Los Angeles, California though IMDB does not provide further details.
The VW engine in the workshop being diagnosed is what appears to be a fresh-air 40 hp or at latest a 1300+ single-port. Holding a screwdriver to the generator to try to listen for engine sounds... |

I’m looking for a scene in the TV show , maybe CHiPs , when a VW bay window bus gets pulled over on the freeway for some reason. This hippy type guy is driving it and has a parrot in back that says something. What season and episode is that ? |

"ATAC to St. Cyrils".
Oh wait, that was the parrot in the James Bond movie "For your eyes only". No bus in that one which I saw.

TV show "Starsky and Hutch" episode "Partners", season 3, #20 (1978). Los Angeles, California-based police detectives Ken Hutchinson ("Hutch", David Soul) and Dave Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) remember a previous case where both are in a fiberglass buggy, chasing after antagonists in a green Toyota Land Cruiser in the desert.
An amazing leap:
At the end, the bad guys try to track down S & H who are hiding near their buggy. That buggy differs slightly from the one seen earlier: stock wide-5 front wheels instead of Jackman "VW Star" style, and one overhead roll bar tube instead of 2. |

White '58-'61 Cabrio driving past in foreground, YouTube video "San Francisco in the 1970's".
'62 Cabrio parked, and in traffic. German TV Series "Der Strassenfeger, die 5. Kolonne" season 1 episode 2, 1963.
Black & white Police Beetle Karmann Cabrio, German movie "Das blaue Meer und Du" (1959; translated The blue sea and you). Verkehrs Polizei = traffic police. Looks like a pope's nose and pre-heart taillamps. |

I don't subscribe to amazon but here's the link to IMCDB which has vehicles listed - is it the tatra you're questioning?
