I’ve had this 72VW Beetle “Baja” for 20+ years and it’s been sitting around as a project that I’m finally getting time for. Here’s the issue… while trying to see if my reverse switch worked, I was shifting through the gears trying to get it into reverse. Once It shifted into reverse, at least I believe it’s in reverse, the wheels locked up. I can’t even move it an inch. The shifter still moves through the gears and they seem fine. I have also replaced all the brake lines and currently there is no fluid in them. The parking brake is disengaged. What are your suggestions? |

Pull the wheels and drums to see if it’s just rust. Once off put it in neutral and see if the axles will turn. _________________ Volkswagen!

Just prior to me trying to shift it into Reverse I was pushing it in and out of my garage. I know it’s not rusty brakes. Is almost feels like there’s a pin stopping it from moving or like it’s stuck in gear |

Jeffrey,
I AM SORRY MAN!!!
I put it up on jack stands and pulled the wheels. With a little brute strength the passenger side broke free and was spinning easily. I tried the same on the drivers side with no luck so I decided to pull the drum off and while doing so it broke free. I cleaned the dirt/grim/rust out and now it’s spinning freely.
Thanks Brother! |
