I'll be back there in the late spring early summer. more work stuff but i think it will be fun. I've seen Faslane, Helensburgh, and glasgow. sad thing was i only saw one ACVW a bay window in glasgow painted with clouds it was cool but my pics are crap. i"ll look you up. i tried several times to catch up with the Campervan army but thngs never worked out. Hi everyone,

we are planning a 2 weeks trip with a Beetle through Scotland in the middle of August 2024 - Glasgow/Loch Ness/Inverness/Orkney Islands/Aberdeen/Dundee/Edinburgh.

Any updates on the tips here are appreciated.

I didnt find any VW realted places to visit, any tips for that?

Thanks in advance!

Bump but we started today from Newcastle to Glasgow. No other beetle on the road, unfortunately.

Hello again,
after 3700 km (2300 mls - quite bad streets, lots of rain and cold even in August)) we are safely back from Scotland and the Orkney Islands. In case some later forum users are interested in this thread, here our route for a round trip from west to East over the Orkney Islands:

Central and West Coast:
Moffat (Toffees)
Glasgow
Loch Ness/Urquhart Castle
Inverness
Ullapool
Ardvreck Castle
Stoer Lighthouse
Smoo Cave

Orkney Islands: Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae, Italian Chapel

Back to Scoland, East Coast:
Leicht Ski Centre
Grampian Transport Museum
Aberdeen
Dunnottar Castle
Arbroath Abbey
Dundee
Dunfemline Abbey
Edinburg
Rosslyn Chapel
Alnwick Castle

More photos in my gallery.
We saw only one air cooled Beetle but several Buses T2 and Vanagons.

But look at this Edinburgh Beauty (73 European Standord Economy Model):
