Hi all,

Here in The Netherlands, where things tend to be wet a lot Wink it is not uncommon to have the undercarriage sprayed with Tectyl.
This "coating" will prevent rust, and so can be a good addition to our potential new restored Late Bay.

Any thoughts of you experts on this? Do? Don't? Don't know? Wink
I am curious, since doing it as part of the resto should be easier, cheaper, and better than later on...

Hi, which coating from them are you thinking about using? I looked at their website, they offer a lot. Impact resistant underbody coatings, annual rust proofing, long term rust prevention?

Good question! In NL cars can be bought with long term prevention as an option (which also in some cases increases the duration of the warranty period, and this is also something you can again do after some years (labor intensive, since if done properly, the previous coat has to be removed first).
I was thinking to go that route, go long term

Also because in winters here salt and salted sand is sprayed of the main roads to prevent ice forming, and this is hell for your car.
I dont want to drive the van in the winter, but in springtime, after rain, you still pick up the salt from before.

Aesthetically it is also a thing, since the undercarriage is painted in the same color as the van, and I am a bit reluctant to paint the black coating over it....
Tough choice...

i went a bit further, coating inside and out with anti gravel (including wheel wells) 3m 08868, and injecting the hollow spaces with henkel wx400 or carprotex rx5

also look at this
