I just picked up this buggy the other day and I was wondering what the manufacturer of the frame is and also the two golden pins on the front look like they would go to a tow bar is that possible?
First post just joined today also going to be doing some research can't wait to get it on the road and put some miles on it.

Nice ghost flames, those would’ve cost some money to have done 15 - 20 years ago. Once they came out with the templates to do them and more people learned how they kinda petered out. Really cool to see.
Post more pics of your buggy.
And you’re probably right about the tow bar.
Welcome to the board, can’t believe no one else said welcome after 20 views, what a bunch of dicks. _________________ Forced induction can overcome a lot of obsticles that gets in it's way

An interesting thing happens in forums where everyone starts parroting the same thing and "common knowledge" takes over.

I always liked the short-back buggies. Could be an old Rebel from Macon Georgia. Can't wait to see more pictures.

Welcome and that is a nice looking rail!
If it's a Chenoweth it will have a serial number at the extreme right end of the top dash tube. The roofline looks too high for that though unless someone modified it.
Looks like 14" Bus rims on the front and yes that would be pins to connect a tow bar. Lets have a look at the rear too please! _________________ Our cars get old, we get old but driving an old VW never gets old! |

Yeah different. Only criticism id make about that is that it would possibly accellerate rust if it gets wet and sits without fully drying. Otherwise it's cool. Makes me think maybe some thick shag would would be fun in my baja. _________________ Brian H.

Do NOT attempt any sort of off-roading in that car.
That “door” hinge upper tube takes a lot of the structural integrity out of the frame. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Doesn't matter when the windshield is at an almost 90 degree angle with no triangulation. I used to tell everybody when I saw stuff like that, but it is so prevalent I just got tired of sounding like a broken record. That and I felt like a know-it-all criticising everybodies frames. They can figure it out and most of them won't even own it long enough to matter. So I gave up that soap box.
You can put doors in, but you have to add something to compensate somewhere else. I don't see that.
Best part is you tell him not to offroad it, but the reality is there's a better chance of someone rear-ending him at a traffic light and killing him. These stupid kids and their cell phones. I was hit on a bike this year waiting to turn left. Kid had no excuse when I went to his window to wring his neck. _________________ Brian H.

Hello,
Thanks for the welcome... and thanks for the input so far working on the buggy and trying to get things ordered and on...
not planning on hard off-roading here in central FL not much to do but run on the streets and sand pits. so I'll be careful of the door hinge No jumps lol
Yeah more scared or getting rear-ended for sure
I was thinking of pulling the carpet I thought the same thing it was stored inside and it will still be in the garage with me. FL rains all the time LOL
A few more pics as requested
having a hell of a time with the distributor right now I think the spark is weak doing research right now.
Thanks DT _________________ “Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.” |
