1. Are the 5 pop out to hinge screws to be painted frame color or are they zinc?

2. Are the 3 pop out latch to body screws to be 4mm oval head slotted screws or phillips?

This doesn't prove anything about other years' but these are original '65 and '67 examples. These are bare steel. Part #28 here doesn't say. http://oacdp.org/5867part/455.png

M4 are the pop out latch to body screws - 3 per latch.

#24 in that same parts book page - it says 4x12

I think he is thinking of the oversize screw size (M4x.70).

The original pop out frame to hinge screw size is: M3.5x.60

I'm going through this right now. I got my screws at https://www.mcmaster.com/92010A798/ - $3.38 for a box of 100

I prefer philips screws, but they also have slotted.

Those screws are 1mm too long, but probably as close as you will get. I ground mine down to the right length.

Drilled a hole and taped it with M3.5 treads into a flat bar with the right thickness. Screwed the screws into it and the ground down what was sticking out.

Yeah, that's the shortest they have.

The weird-looking one is a cheap Chinese tap that snapped off in the hole.
