I have restored a 1955 bug from Sweden. There is a 'bracket' on the driver side fender (see photo). I assume it is meant to hold a side view mirror. Anyone an idea which mirror should be fitted? The car is original throughout so also want to reinstall the mirror that has been there (even though it is after market). Thanks!

I think the fender opening is for the turn signal, not a mirror.
At least in the USA.
Swan Neck style mirrors look good on the front fenders..
Stock & Talbot style mirrors etc all mount on the doors.
55 would have had the smallest peanut turn signals there?
