Attention: there are many different versions of original nose cones till 9´52 and till 59 (Bus) in the field!
Your nose cone is the reinforced version with 3 ribs (instead of only 1), also for Bus (but also fitting Beetle)
For this nose cone you need the newer shift lever 111 307 541 A
This lever is the same as for Export Beetles till 7´59. So not that rare.
To clarify what version your nose cone exactly is, please post pics from the inside. |

Much appreciated info Wagon19 , thanks for informing me . i do have a rough looking well used 111 307 541 A stick here . but too rough to use .
just checked , i was not aware of the differences in early versus late nose cones here . the one in my 51 bug only has the 1 rib .
snapped a pic if the inside here .

For me, your pic says, your nose cone is a spare part after 1´53 for beetle till 9´52 with chrash box trans and for bus with crash box till 12´52.
The cast numbers are a bit confusing, for ex, I have a old nose cone with exact the same numbers, 21.09.1.1
But this part has only one rib and the old hockey stick 111 307 541 placed inside.
So it´s not so clear to see the difference.
Look page 5 - 2 : >

It seems, it depends on the version of nose cone, which hockey stick can be used. The wall of the newer nose cones is thicker than on the early ones.
Try your old hockey stick in your new nose cone for test shifting.
If you can properly shift the reverse gear, this version is OK, otherwise you need the newer version "541 A".
Good luck |
