Thought I had an alternator issue because the idiot light was coming on periodically. Turned out that the idiot lights were wired up backwards. Corrected that problem but that left me with an oil pressure issue. Installed a new oil pressure relief valve and spring to fix that issue. One of the idiot light bulb holder electrical legs was broken, so I ordered a used speedometer off of ebay. The plastic portion on the ordered holder fell apart in my hand when I removed it but the electrical connector was good. I drilled out the rivet holding the connector in and transferred it to the plastic holder on my speedometer. |

Nice work. When you paint the car will you do interior and exterior at the same time? |

Used a cable, long enough to reach the far end of the tank , to Roto
rooter my ‘61 tank. You can see some of the crud and scale knocked off after one pass. _________________ 67 zenith blue sunroof

Not many miles on the new carb; runs great on the road. Last two trips to town with a few different stops and the carb was flooded after setting 5 minutes. So I finally got a fuel pressure gauge and found 4.5 psi. Got the pressure down to 3.0 psi with the addition of 3 more gaskets. Seems much better now. _________________ 1960 Indiana Red T1 |

Thanks Everett. This is the furthest I drove the beetle since I (yes, totally me) caused a stalling issue with a mod I made incorrectly. So you know, the bike wasn't only for riding the trail, but possibly to ride home if it broke down
Everything went great, only peddled on the singletrack !

Got it painted. I’ve been stressing but it came out pretty decent. I can only add- the work is in the prep. Hours and hours of sanding. Also I sprang for the Harbor freight black widow HTE gun- $180. But glad I did

Awesome work far rider.
I painted my lower fenders with bed liner, the rocks on my road are destroying them. So far this is working.

I parked it the other day to walk out the next morning with oil leaking from the passenger side trans area. I tightened the hose clamps on the boots and hope that’ll fix it. Ordered new ones too, because I have a hunch that won’t work

Well, haven't had much time to work on my own Beetle(s) but I did realize the Fuchs wheels from my daughter's Playmobil Carrera 2.7RS fit on her Beetle.
I feel like this is important stuff.
If only they could bring out a 356 so I could put some slotted steelies on a Bug. _________________ '60 Canadian Standard, '64 Bug, '66 Bug, '66 Bus, '69 Sunroof Bug, '71 Super, '72 Super, '73 Canadian Custom, '73 Super, '74 Love Bug, '83 Mexi Bug, '94 Mexi Bug, '99 New Beetle, '02 New Beetle Turbo S. Ran a new wiring harness. Didn’t go smooth but it’s in. _________________ 67 zenith blue sunroof

Painted the gas tank. Used Max-Flex Victory blue satin. Closest I could find to a blue-grey. It’s actually a little lighter in color than it appears _________________ 67 zenith blue sunroof

Added a backup wire for the front hood latch release in case the primary wire ever fails or jams. The new wire is under the car, tucked away in the wheel well but can be pulled out through an existing drain hole when needed. |

rewired for 12v, but I can't find a diagram of how to wire the potentiometer that's mounted behind the speedo. I also can't find a diagram of how to wire the oil pressure gauge. It looks like the previous owners cut the wires to these devices and pulled the leads, so I can't even match wire to for the voltage reducers. |

Time to replace the original front shocks, only 57 years on these. Nice Sunday project.
