Hello there everyone!

I plan on painting my caps two tone with a base and one color and the raised logo another. In my mind, I picture painting the cap the raised color, painting the base color then removing the base color from the raised logo by some method, wiping or sanding with a block of some sort. I think though that it wouldn't give me the sharpest of edges as most caps have somewhat rounded edges on the raised portion.

Can anyone that's done something of this sort tell me how they went about it? I can't hand paint the logos due to tremors and tics so I need some method like described to make it happen.

Thanks for your time!

There's this thread
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=65007

But Yes, the edges might not be as sharp as you want.
There are some comments about that near the end of the thread above

There are people that sell stickers instead - Not paint but these are probably sharper looking.

I tried a search at WW and got nothing. " hubcap stickers" ?
I have aftermarket chrome smoothies on my bus, want to add the VW logo.

There's this ad on the site, he lists them as decals so maybe you missed it

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=858763

He says they don't fit aftermarket caps though so not sure they will work right

This guy appears to have both sizes:

Howdy ...

Paint stores sell liquid masker.
I use it all the time for painting exterior doors.
Use a cheap set of water color paint brushes from Wally World, Menards, or whoever to apply.

It may take many strokes of brushing but you should be able to put it where you need it, even with non-steady hands. Let it dry, paint it, peel away excess masking, & enjoy.

You can do this, best luck ... stay safe

Paint will not stick to chrome. You would have to grind the chrome off and use etching primer to seal in the metal before you paint. Sticker is going to be much cheaper in the long run and can be replaced if the colors fade due to UV rays from the sun or if they rip off going down the road.

Sticker life if exposed to UV light all day ( including car vinyl wraps) is about 3-7 years. This is all depending on what kind of sticker it is and the quality of the product they use.
