There are no "body swaps" with a type 4. They are unibody and each chassis...wagon, four door and two door is quite a bit different.
That being said, we had the guy here a few months back who literally chopped the body off of a wagon and welded it to something like a Nissan chassis.
So to answer the original question.....it would be a lot of cutting, welding and fabricating. You had better be good at it too!

Nah...not everything....but I know enough people who know what I don't...to get away with it...sometimes!
Its a good question though. If this were a type 1, or type 3 with a bolt on pan, I think it would be easier to do "frankin-work" because you could seperate the body fron the pan.
On type 4, too much of the body is what strengthens the pan and vice-versa.
And it really depends on how you want this thing to look, handle and last.
The guy who chopped up a wagon...really was just looking for the type 4 look. Its a toy!
He grafted the body onto a 2002 Subaru Forrester...front engine, AWD and 165 hp.
