As per the title really. I've realised after years of scrolling with my touchpad that the newest first option is actually really useful, especially on picture-heavy posts.
I've noticed sometimes that Googling serves up search results that are defaulted to newest first, particularly with what seem to be older, archived posts (no pictures or formatting).
Is there a setting to make my view default to newest first when I select a post, that I've not found?

You can go to the latest post in a thread by clicking the little page icon at the far right of the thread listing.
Almost all browsers have a key you can tap to immediately jump to the bottom of a webpage, which would be
the newest post on the page.

Yes, if you are looking at the list of topics, click on the little green icon and it will open that topic and jump to the newest post in the thread.
One of these green icons
next to the topic title
For example, when I logged in this morning, these 3 topics were new in the Split Beetle section.
I can click on any of the green icons to open that thread and jump to the newest post.

Also - If you do a Google search and get the text-only version of a topic, there will typically be a link at the top of the page to "View Original Topic"
Click on that link so you see the "real" topic with all of the formatting and photos displayed.
