I have had to replace the throwout bearing shaft. The new shaft has holes behind the bearing for the clips. THe old new had a notch. I am having a hard time getting the new style clips into the hole.
Is there some trick?
Or a place to buy the old style clips? |

Not sure what you got sold, send it back and get the right one, that is not for either the 71 and earlier or even the later 72+ throw out bearings. |

it would be great to know what year bus we're working on, then what transmission it has
that would appear to be the early cross shaft and the early (replacement) t/o bearing clips. The 'correct' clips don't have the spring in them, so I'm not sure exactly what collection of parts you have _________________

Make that 70 and earlier, 71 has the collar and used the later TO bearing, my bad. There really is only three crossshafts the bays used, early 002, late 002 and the 091, the late 002 and 091 used the late model throwout bearing. None of shafts I have ever seen had a hole for the clip to fit in, always a notch on the back and I see no way to slip the bent part of a clip into a hole. |

IIRC that is a "HD shaft" and the idea is to slip the hook end into the hole, then slide the straight part into the TOB
it's to help prevent the clips from falling out, which that style was sorta known to do _________________

Learn new things all the time on this site, in almost fifty years never seen one of those cross shafts, ran into anybody using one or heard of them. A quick surf shows a few vendors selling them, found no videos of installing the TO bearing on it, if possible do a video and post it. |

I have decided to go with a Throw out bearing conversion kit (early to late) sachs tob from Kustom1warehouse.
after doing some research this will be much more reliable. |
