Does anyone sell .030 barrel shims that cover more of the seating surface for the cylinders? The only ones I see for sale look like these and are fairly narrow.

That’s not too bad. As an alternative, if you have dished pistons, take 0.030 off the piston crown. That’s almost always a good thing on the dished T4 pistons. Wink What is your current piston to head clearance?

Maybe try them on a cylinder and see how they look?
The case register is wider than the seating surface on the cylinder.

That was after .040 shims. Since it is apart I was thinking i might drop
the deck height to .055 with .030 shims. That would raise my compression to
8.3 though, not sure I want to go any higher. It's pushing my 65 DC.

That’s about where I am at and I run regular gas with no problem at all. Another time I would go higher and run premium fuel.

What cam are you running?

That will determine your CR.

Putting in a Webcam "stock" 142. Could probably get away with more compression here at 7000' but never know when it will be at sea level, also running shortened 411 pipes with a 73-74 stock muffler. Did check the shims on the barrels and they fit better there, could use another 20% in width but it will do.

Personally, I would remove the 0.065 shim so the cylinder sits on the case, then set piston to head clearance to 0.040 by shaving the piston crowns back. 0.025 is nothing to take off. Plenty of meat up there for that.
