Dang, let's hope the offending driver was well-insured! Some of those cars will be tough (and $$$$) to replace.

Wow!
Now I understand all the concrete and steel buttresses in front of all the businesses around here.

Damn, hope that lady had some good insurance because that's going to add up quick.

Hope those poor owners carry some good insurance as well, based on my experiences w/ the "required" liability coverage of other drivers (i.e. not good -- been hit on 5 different occasions so far, and have never been able to collect a single dime from the other parties -- hit-&-runs, penniless HS grads, fleeing felons, etc. *sigh*).

Sounds like she did get banged up. No pity here She needs to feel some pain for what she done. That may make her slow down in the future, else she may not have learnt her lesson here.
I hope she is sued into losing a lot of money too. She should also be jailed for endangering a child, The child should be taken into protective custody, mom is too reckless to be allowed to keep a child. 70 mph on that ramp is reckless driving evidently.
My sympathy goes to her kid, not to reckless criminal mom.

Aren't you supposed to do a claim through your own insurance and let them handle it?

At least then you are only out the deductible, which gets reimbursed if they get money from the other party.

Not VW but it reminded me of my time at a local dodge dealership I worked at back in the 90s. It was winter time and I hated scraping windshields to drive cars in. To get in the shop you had to go out on the main road, go right then another right to go up the ramp to the door. I decided it would be ok to drive in with the door open and me sticking out to see. So I did. I pulled out on the main road, ran up to about 30and as I made the first right I rolled right out of the car, a green Dodge Intrepid and after rolling around on the ground I composed myself enough just to see the Intrepid crash into used cars that belonged to the Chevy dealer across the road. Whenever I run into anyone from there they ask me if I remember that. I always say no, are you sure it was me?

Yes, that’s the normal process. But in my case(s), the other parties were hit-and-run types, or they didn’t have any insurance, period.

We did have full insurance (i.e. w/ collision coverage) on one of our cars that got hit, so yes my insurance paid for repairs after I’d footed the deductible. The other cars were bit too old for full coverage to make economic sense, and I was just carrying liability coverage on those (as the law requires), and thus was stuck w/ paying for repairs myself.

My point was that I never got a dime from any of the parties who were at fault — they all fled the scene, had no insurance, and/or had no $$$. Required liability insurance for everybody seems like a sensible and failsafe idea on the surface, but it can be a pretty flawed system in actual practice (or at least that’s been my experience so far, sadly).

And thus I’m really hoping the owners of that business have some good insurance of their own, and aren’t relying solely on the at-fault party’s insurance or estate to pay for the damages… Sad

Just saw this news blurb come across my youtube recommendations, and figured I would look here to see if it had been posted. Sure enough there it is!

I've driven by this place many times over the years, never had a chance to stop in to say hi. Might have to do that next time.

Good to know nobody was seriously injured, but that is a lot of damage. Don't drink and drive, folks. Especially with kids in the car.

The news report I watched mentioned that she was suspected of drinking before the crash.

The news report I watched mentioned that she was suspected of drinking before the crash.

https://www.kulr8.com/news/billings-businesses-hit...90514.html

MHP Trooper Mihaylov stated that the driver of the Nissan, 21-year-old Kenzie Vogt, had a 17-year-old and a 15-month-old in the car at the time of the crash. All were taken to the hospital, but only minor injuries were reported.

Vogt has been charged with criminal child endangerment, driving under the influence, and operating a motor vehicle without seatbelts.

The owners of VeeWee's are awaiting information on whether the driver's insurance will cover the costs to repair the damage to their customers' and employee's vehicles. The owner of Eagle Tattoo's building is also waiting for a contractor's assessment before addressing the damage to their storefront.

Unless the bitch has an unusually high property damage insurance policy, her insurance wont cover all the damages. Maybe she has other assets that can be taken. Maybe the owners of the VWs' have uninsured, under insured policies to make up the difference.
I hope they take he kids, she abused them by driving so drunk. Lock her up for a long time.
