Sometimes it pays to takes things into your own hands! Nice to see that detail back in place. Nice work. I need to retire so I can have more play time! LOL.

Back in 2022 when you posted about the differences in pre-heat pipe gaskets for intake manifolds. In order to properly create that venturi effect in the pre-heat tube, did you mention which side (while facing forward) of the engine to place the gasket with the 6mm hole?

Thanks!

Bill

The 6mm gasket on my 1500 goes on the left.

I really had to think about this and re-read some of earlier posts along with some others that relater to the heat riser function.
I'm also two years older Laughing
I posted this in a Trylons "Karmann Ghia Fever" thread.

"While doing the single port manifold installation research I came across some interesting information regarding gaskets, specifically the heat riser gaskets.
It seems the two gaskets have a different diameter hole.
From what I have read the gasket with the 6mm hole goes on the left side.
If I am understanding this correctly the difference in the gasket diameters allows for the exhaust to flow better and heat the manifold properly.
Additionally, it seems you have to be aware of how the tailpipes are installed. If they are pushed too far into the muffler this can restrict the outlet of the riser.
It seems this is just not a slapdash install.
Here is a thread of particular interest."

The smaller diameter gasket corresponds to the preheat pipe from the muffler.

IIRC you need to be aware of how deep the left side tailpipe is installed in the muffler as it has an affect on the preheat function.
Hope this helps.

December 28th arrived with some very nice weather here in Central Ohio.
So nice in fact that Joan was begging for a cruise while the spouse was out looking for after holiday deals.
Before I uncovered Joan I cruised over the local cars and coffee with the our 91 Geo Tracker
That weekly event is located on the edge of The Ohio State University campus. It’s a newer apartment complex that has graciously allowed us to meet on their premises.
On home game weeks it is off limits.
Anyhow, I expected a good turnout but only three including myself were there.
I checked out the radical ride that showed, jumped into Tracker and headed home.
I unwrapped Joan and drove over to our to top off with some 90 octane ethanol free goodness. Then cruised over to the swanky part of town continuing out a couple of back country roads.
It was my first time cruising top down in December. Man, it sure felt good!
I was hoping I could pull Sophia out but she is literally boxed in with our Christmas decoration boxes.
We stage the storage boxes on the lower level of the garage.
The decorations usually go into storage in the upper level of the garage hopefully before Valentine’s Day. Shocked

Safe travels and Happy New Year Cool
