here it is, bought from germany in 1975,the previous owner drove it to Athens.
He was a ship(merchant marine) engineer travelling all over the world. The car used to stay in a garage for 10-11 months a year. Gave it it to my girlfriend(and now my wife Very Happy ) 20 years ago. All original with 90000 kms, did an external paint job 20 years ago. With a stock 1200cc engine, still runs strong, never had any issue or an accident(thank God).
The place of the pictures is Porto Rafti, close to Athens, beautiful beach, right next to a series of German bunkers from 1941.(the name of the car is Fritz) Very Happy

Very cool! 1965 was the last year that the 1200cc engine was available here!

Welcome, and please take many scenic pictures for us to enjoy!

The USA 1200 last seen in '65 is not the same engine your later model probably has, which would be a stronger, dual-relief case with a more sophisticated carb and distributor. Not so powerful, but pretty bulletproof!

Dont forget to Greece your suspension!

Welcome!!!!

In 1975 the American Bugs had deck lid louvers. It is odd for me to see a non louvered deck lid on a late model Bug.

I wonder why???? Smog control reasons? Maybe smog controlled cars ran hotter? Lean burn, egr, thermal reactors, cataylst or such????

The car is 1200 cc,one of the last produced in Germany, and don't have a catalyst. Probably because of the small engine displacement do not have deck lid louvers?I do not have the knowledge..

Might be the more limited air demand of the 1200 engine. It might have required louvers for a 1600 engine. In the USA even the 1500 models didn't have louvers.
