Hello - for a 1957 36 hp engine with the oil drain plug in the case, is the drain plug the same for the engine, gearbox, and steering box? My engine oil case plug is worn, and I'm searching for a backup German plug. I believe the correct part number is 111101193. It also appears that Febi makes one, but I prefer original German.

I have not compared them side-by-side, but I do think it is the same as the split case transmission drain plugs
Personally, I feel that you get a finite number of cycles with a steel plug in an alloy case, so I drain oil through the sump plate instead.

Lots of the original VW dealer parts manuals here:

The beetle parts manual for now is thru the "Upcoming" button at the top of that webpage.

Only downside to the above parts manual is it is from the 1970s, so while it has a lot of the early parts in it, there is a lot of later parts to wade thru.

There are several parts manuals in among the owner manuals here, several are pre-1961:
