Get one from a rebuilder or a yonke |

I have a set of aftermarket seat covers from a 67 bus with 1/3 - 2/3 front seats. Will the covers fit my 70s driver seat?
Considering the seat is currently threads over bare springs, even a poor fit might be an improvement... _________________ Craig K

don’t know about fitment, but this might help with increased comfort.

I have the original seat back pad from the 67 as well, still in good shape. Will consider wheher spending on and using the proper bottom seat cushion will set me down the road of a correct $600 seat re-do, which I am tryng to avoid. At least until I replace the driver door window seals.
Have the 67 2/3 backrest and cover as well, but noone ever sits there so seems hardly worth even the minimal effort of half-assedly slapping random bits on it!
EDIT -
To place an answer for the next chea - ah, thrifty! - person wanting to know this: yes, the seat covers and pads from a mid-60s-up 1/3 -2/3 bus will fit an early bay (71 or so?), but the pads may need some trim work and the covers may not look factory.
If I get around to it this winter I'll post pics. _________________ Craig K

Quick Favor,
does anyone have the wiring diagram for a 1971 Euro spec Bus. No reverse lights, parking lamp on head light and double bulb tail lights.
Thanks in advance,
Martin

A grey vinyl flap to keep stuff from slipping into the gap, same stuff as over the sliding door to keep the curtain out of the track.. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Went out to start 76 bus. It had been a slow start the last couple of times, but during the winter it doesn’t get driven a bunch. Seemed like plenty of battery power. After 5 minutes of trying, I gave up and opened the engine compartment to look around. I stuck my hand on the negative terminal of battery to just make sure it was nice and tight. It turned out to be quite warm. Not enough to burn me, but enough to say it was hot. I figured this shouldn’t be happening. It is fuel injected and pretty stock. Electronic ignition, but otherwise all stock. I had it started last week to take it out for a short drive and finally grease up the front end. Thanks in advance. |

Heat means poor contact, take it apart and shine things up, a little grease in between will prevent future corrosion. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

The battery post and the insides of the cable ends need to be bright shiny metal. You can use a wire brush on the posts and a pen knife to clean the insides of the cable ends. Treat the post and cable ends with vasoline or dielectric grease before assembling them and then smear more on the outsides to keep corrosion at bay. Clean and treat the opposite ends of the cables while you are at it. |

Thank you for the replies. I did as suggested and it definitely started up faster. It seems like I had cleaned all of the grounds pretty recently, but we all know how time flies. Thanks again. |

Can anyone point me towards what the curtains looked like originally for a bay window transporter? Mine is a 1974. I can't seem to find any articles or websites or even photos of curtains in a transporter style bus with regular benches middle and rear, not used for camping.
My main idea behind these is the aesthetic. But functionally I suppose they would be nice to keep the sun off the upholstery and keeping people from seeing inside when it's parked on the street.
Thanks in advance! _________________ 1974 Transporter

When my kids took my Bay to college nearly two decades back now, my wife made some tie dyed curtains for it. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but they are still there today. As a collegiate transport, the Bay acquired the moniker "The Smile Mobile"and probably had hundreds if not thousands of pictures taken of it by kids whose parents had provided them with boring BMWs and Lexuses. |
