This may have already been posted about somewhere here in the 356 section. I am assuming these were from 356.
This is a YouTube channel about odd aircraft (a very ood channel). This US Navy weapons system that was never built was using a remote controlled, twin, counter-rotation helicopter to launch Mk-48 torpedos. This video right around the 6 minute mark states they were using 72 hp Porsche motors.
Interesting!

I been looking for a 678 oil pump/ drysump pump ..engines are rare it's kind of cool knowing how cool and risky using a 356 engine for an aircraft ...I can see why they stopped ..but alot of guys use the vw type 1 engine still till this day for their small planes so maybe it wasn't as risky yes im counterdicting myself lol . |

A VW - Porsche "mix - engine" was, is a german "Stamo" aircraft engine.
A machined 30 hp VW case, 74 Porsche crank + rods, 80 mm alu cylinders, flat pistons, machined 30 hp heads, stock cam.
