Hi,

I'm currently reassembling a car (I bought in pieces). I has a 2 folds ragtop. The cover is brand new. And I restored (repainted) the mechanism.

But the hook doesn't perfectly align with the hole. I have to push the hook a bit upwards.

Did you already experienced a similar problem. Any suggestion on how to fix it?

Are the guides in good shape?

They seem to be in a rather good shape.

On the underside of the header assembly there are 2 phenolic rub blocks. Are those in place?

Are you talking about the inner slides (white plastic rectangular pieces)?

The answser is "yes, they are in place". I replaced them with a kit from Grumpy's Metal.

I wonder if the powder coat can distort the metal.

You could check, if the powder coating layer thickness varies at
the locking bow and longitudinal guide plates at their contact surfaces

If the layer thickness is larger at the front, the hook points downwards

Yep, the phenolic rub blocks! Slides are different.

Does the 2 fold have phenolic rub blocks ? I thought they were only on 3 fold & bus ragtops

Try this website. There is a 2 Fold video install down mid page. Check it out and see if anything is different or wrong.

Sanding down some of the coat in some places (support zones) helped a bit. Seems to make the cover waterproofing better as well.

Also I rectified / straightened the hook itself a bit. It was slightly distorted.

That’s great! Just a little bit too much here and there can make all the difference. Glad you found the reason.

That would have driven me nuts!
