Anyone have an idea of the distance the screws for the rear seat mounting brackets are from the top and side? I don’t want to cut a million holes

I have a 69 model but a late Bay rear bench i'm guseeing if i can't fix it to the original bracket.

Thanks,

I’m looking for information about the edge protector on the top back of this seat.

I assume they come on Kombis & Standards
What year, all? When did they start?
Are Bay window edge protectors the same?
How long are they in mm?

Thanks

It looks like a 56-57 Standard (Green/Green Bus) middle seat.
This color was used from 55-58 but 55 has a slightly different seat base and a '58 seat back would be curved instead of "flat"

I can't tell for sure in your photo so:
Is the seat back rest flat vs a '58 only curved seat, which would have a little bow in it.

1959-61 upholstery example that is NOT flat:

(Same seat design, just different color)

The back rest is flat. So this must be a 56-7 rear seat?

Yes, although it would work and generally look correct for 1955 too.

It's just that 1955 has a slightly different seat base design, the center leg is more "sharp".

I think your seat bottom has a couple pipes added? (one seen in red paint)
Guess: They were probably added so that it would sit upright for people to sit on at some point, I've seen that done with middle seats in the past.

I have a split rear seat back that is 66 or 67 (is there a way to tell?) and I need to install the three luggage bar uprights. The pristine upholstery is already done and the upholstery shop did not mark where the uprights go.

What to do?

Does anyone have measurements they can provide of the screw locations?

I have the long luggage bar but I'm considering shortening it because the bus it's going into is a January 67 deluxe. However I think the seat is out of a 66 21 window.

How do I find these brackets under the board in the back?

As I understand the discussion, the seat back and bottom are the same width as earlier seats. The luggage bar on the back of the deluxe seat, however, appears to be shorter on the 67 and the spacing of the bar uprights appears to be different as well. Mounting points are the same as earlier seats.

The 66 seat will have the brackets for the uprights in a different position with shorter bar.
Since the upholstery is done, you are limited to using whatever type bar is correct for your seat back.

Upright spacing, 1956 flat-back rear seat
Middle post is centred
They are 540mm spaced

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So this is probably true up to the 66/67 shorter bar
Who can measure the upright spacing on a 66/67 rear seat?

I'm installing my newly reupholstered rear seat into my '65 and can't figure out why I can't get the clamps to tighten the legs firmly to the floor. Stock seat frame, OG short rear clamps (no nubs), OG floor. Of course I could cheat and use a shim of some kind under the legs, but my understanding is the legs should be metal on metal on the floor. This is a 2-clamp seat, and both side have the same gap. What the heck am I missing?

You’re using middle seat clamps!
Rears are more shallow

Those look like short rear seat clamps. This is a replacement floor correct?
Maybe the stamping or the mount is a little off?

This might actually be an advantage as you can add a couple pieces of inner tube/rubber/plastic under the legs to keep them from sitting directly on the floor. The bottoms of the legs don't age too well around these parts anyway.

Thanks for everyone's help.... I figured it out. My bus came with a grab bag of mounts, and I (wrongly) assumed the short ones were for the rear. Turns out there are (at least) 2 different middle seat mounts, both of which are carried by CIP1 who tipped me off. The short ones I have are stamped 111881285.

For those looking to sort out their mounts (lengths are for the shoulder where the bolt goes through, not including the arch):

221885865A: ~15mm (don't have any to measure)
111881285: 21-23mm
221883865A: 26-28mm

CIP1 claims the 111... version was used on both bugs and busses, but I'm guessing it was only for bugs since it's a 111 prefix (yes, I know could also be for busses), but also not listed in the bus OACDP.

Stocknazi, its an OG floor, but great idea about adding a rubber strip under the legs rather than grinding down the clamps.
