Been a busy last few weeks with a couple back to back conferences and then had the flu for half a week but still found time to get out in the Bus, get out windsurfing, and celebrate my wife and my 30th wedding anniversary.
We had 30C temps yesterday and the coolant temp stayed under 80C even doing 120kph up a couple longer hills so really happy with the slight mods on the rad scoop I made last Fall.
Saw this beauty in West Van yesterday where we stopped for lunch.
Was in the perfect position to catch Mt Baker in the background behind Vancouver City proper on Sunday. Wish I had a better camera.
Saw a couple Vanagons parked on the street, a few Eurovans, and a couple mid 70s Bugs but no Bays on the Way. _________________ *******************************

Congratulations on the 30th year anniversary.
That's a tall order for some these days.
I have to admit, you do find some cool cars and the like to photograph there in Vancouver. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Thanks "67rustavenger"! Time has flown by and I'm happy that my wife still puts up with me after all these years and lucky for me, she enjoys going for drives and camping in the Bus. Good or bad, the kids like to come along often too.
It's funny that time seems to tick by more slowly when we are out driving around in the Bus. Our weekends seem longer, we take more time to stop and look around, and we remember everything we did, where we went, etc, versus a few years ago where everything just blended together.
All good and I'll try to keep including pics and stories of interesting things that we come across. _________________ *******************************

Thanks Tom! We shared a favourite at lunch yesterday. A pint of Steamworks Lager. _________________ *******************************

Thanks guys!
Abscate, I don't mind Eurovans and actually like the T5, T6, & T7 California Campers but would probably never buy one as I prefer the Bay Window shape.
I've seen and sat in the new EV and don't mind it at all but would never buy one. Saw this one yesterday near my office. With a different set of rims it could look nice.

The camper conversions I have seen of these over seas are quite nice looking actually. We have rented another brand of electric van and they are really fun to drive, all electric has so much torque and speed one could get in trouble! _________________ 1979 VW BUS

Headed over to the Parksville area of Vancouver Island to camp with friends at Rathtrevor Park. The ferries ran pretty much on time and other than the normal Sunday afternoon traffic on the way home on Sunday, it was a smooth and relaxing trip.
Checked out the Black Goose Restaurant nearby. Mainly British fare.
No Bays, Bugs, or Eurovans seen at all this weekend but saw a couple Vanagon Campers on hwy 1 and one on one of the roads on the Island. _________________ *******************************

Thanks Tom.
It was a nice place and a relatively short drive with the ferry.
The food was tasty and we got the Ploughman's Platter to sample the Scotch Egg as our oldest son has been in the UK (England, Scotland, & Ireland) on business for about a month including 12 days in Glasgow and Aberdeen and he tried the Scotch Egg at a few different places.
We had a Lager with dinner but I wanted to try the Dunkel Weizen Dark Wheat Ale afterwards.
The review from their website which I felt described it well:
"The Longwood Brewpub Dunkel Weizen is a Dark Wheat Ale. It pours a dark, dark brown which light shines though in a reddish hue. The head is mid-level and settles with a film lining the glassโ perimeter. Smelling this beer the aroma is light and subtle. Notes of nutty chocolate take charge and donโt let anything else sneak through. The taste is quite light. The malt notes come through strong up front and settle into a chocolate, nut filled finish that is still light, easy drinking and not overpowering. The wheat-base does not really show itself as one could easily mistake this for a dark lager style beer. The Dunkel Weisen is a classic style beer and on the light side of things the Longwood does a great job making a highly drinkable, flavourful beer."

All good, Tom. My grandparents were from England so I grew up eating English food and don't miss it much after living in Japan but it's good to sample the basics from time to time to see if the food tastes any better than I remember. No, it still tastes the same!
I went for the dark beer as it sounded like a dessert beer as my wife and daughter had the pudding and that was too sweet for me.
Abscate, there was a family of Brits in our camping group this past weekend so I got a good refresher of British humour, idioms, and colloquial vocabulary but didn't hear the spotted dick reference. You might want to get that checked though.....
Update: Pudding with fruit in it, I understand now. Nicely played Abscate! _________________ *******************************

Headed to Alouette Lake in the Bus this past Sunday. Nice to get away from the crowds.
Stopped by Chinatown yesterday in the Bus to pick up some steamed buns from Sun Fresh Bakery.
Saw this nice Early Bay Panel parked a block from where we parked.
My friend J got his 69 Riviera refreshed and back on the road in Japan. He decked it out as a Food Truck (Bus) and now makes and sells Tacos at various locations throughout the Tohoku Region in Japan. I plan to go visit him in Akita this Fall when I head over to surf and see family in Kanagawa.
Other than the Panel, we didn't see any other Bays on the Way, Vanagons, Eurovans, or Bugs. _________________ *******************************

Hi Tom. I hope that your drive North is going well. We actually went with the BBQ Pork & Vegetable steam buns not just the cha siu bao and they were excellent. _________________ *******************************
