Usually the photos in this topic are of unknown origin. Not in this case.
My friend's grandfather ran a wholesale butcher shop in Flensburg Germany, near the border with Denmark. He was going through some old photos and passed on the VW ones to me. His grandfather's name, Arnold Axen of course!

You bus nerds should be able to state the years of these two. My guess is 56-61.

Very cool.

I would say 1961-1962.

Bullet front blinkers so they have to be 1961-1963 for a German Bus.

The one on the right appears to have flat rear wheel wells so that excludes 1963, which have the lipped rear wheel wells.
