I spent my first 11 years in Pompton Plains(5) and Long Valley(6). My dad accepted a transfer to Illinois in 1966. When I returned with my family some years later and visited the old neighborhood in Long Valley my wife asked me why I ever left! It hadn't changed in 25 years. We were kids back then and had no vote. The population has not even doubled in the almost 60 years since I lived there. It's just over 2000 now. What a gorgeous area! Illinois doesn't compare! BTW the ranch my parents bought new in 1960 for $17,900 is currently valued at almost $600,000 and it doesn't look much different.

One of my Volvo buddies lives in Long Valley near the bridge, I’ve replaced a couple of M-M throttle bodies there
