Is this from the GEX usable parts stash? Very Happy

This is just a pile I've been kicking around the shop. GEX might pay a penny a piece for these, I better call em up, lol!

Thanks to Karmannut for the idea and coaching me through the light disassembly, I was finally able to get around to building my VW lamp!

It’s fun to bag on GEX isn’t it?

On July 24, 2024, a wildfire destroyed 30% of our town in Jasper, Alberta, Canada. Unfortunately, I lost my home, belongings, and my 1969 Beetle. A friend was teaching a glass/epoxy art workshop, so I took the opportunity to make a tribute piece. I used the keys to represent the burning trees. A couple of silver dollars from my late father's coin collection were recovered from the ashes, and were used for the wheels. A molten piece of glass was used as part of the mountains. The Beetle shape was created by cut pieces of a mountain bike disc brake(not from the fire). Someday, this will be in my new home, but it's going to be a while.
Cheers everyone. Please do as much Firesmart as you can around your property, have guaranteed replacement cost insurance if you can, document as much of your belongings as possible, and store photos and receipts in the cloud.
You can see the Beetle behind the VW Bus planter.

Really nice artwork there BBS.

I've been thinking of you lately. The LA fire reminded me of your plight and total loss of you home and toys.

Hopefully someday, there will be another VW in your life that makes you happy.

Take care sir. I look forward to what happens in your future.

Thanks, 67. I've been looking, and there is an exact clone to my Beetle 5 hours away in BC! My next Beetle will have to be completely done, and in excellent running condition, as I won't have a garage and tools for at least another year.
I definitely need another "emotional support vehicle".

Nice to hear from you again! I too have been wondering about how life is going for you. Especially when we drive through Jasper now and then to see family and see the results of the fire.

Thank you, oprn. It's been quite stressful time. I'm trying my hardest to get my home rebuilt, but we are caught in a 3 government bureaucracy. My builder just about has the plans ready to submit for the permits, but that may take a while for Parks Canada to approve them. Meanwhile, 6 months after fire, I'm still waiting for the debris to be removed from my lot.
