I bought a new front bumper for my 1961 Beetle. I was assured by the seller it does not have those black plastic end caps on the overrider bow. Well it does and I got screwed and can't return it. I don't like the look. Has anyone tried buying a proper overrider from Wolfsburg to solve the fitment problem and make it look correct? Or do I just bin it and start over?

Remove the fillers and shape them to fit with a file ?

WW bumpers are beautiful but still require maintenance .

I bought the stainless steel ones from CIP a few months ago. I just omitted that little piece of rubber when I assembled them. Bumpers fit great and look really nice.

Update:

I removed the black plastic spacers, but the gap is too large. So, I got out the files and ground the ends on the bow to the proper shape. Looks good now.

Maybe after all these years that's exactly what you're suppose to do. Could be they're there like a shipping device. Like those inclusions that come with fresh air mufflers to make the part hold its shape... Just thinking out loud. BTW, they do look awesome !

They come as a kit though. You have to assemble them.

Without the rubber pieces, especially from a few feet away, they look like original chrome bumpers, not cheap repos.

A follow up on my bumpers. So, I took the bumpers apart, used a file/dremel and fit to shape. They look quite nice now. As with all the parts we buy, they do need some massaging. I am learning.
