I’ll report back a what the O’Reillys brake drum people find out.
I already dropped it off without measuring it.

Brake drums always have a little tight and loose feel at the drum. As long as the pedal does not pulse it should be good in that way. Personally have rounded back out drums that were badly warped over a month of daily driving locally. When possible coming up to a stop will apply pressure to the brake pedal gently at first and ramp the pressure up slower than normal.

Not a lot of excess material in VW drums to just cut out, so that should be a last option. Having the drum surface angled from inside to outside or gouged badly due to say you let the shoes wear down to metal.

Well O’Reillys couldn’t do the drums because of the splines on the drum they said it would not work on their machine.

Picked them up.
One drum is thicker than the other.

Mistake, you could cut off most of the outer side rubber to turn that into a good part. With two it can not flex properly enough.

This can’t be a mistake. Shocked What are the odds?
I got this one from Amazon from a different manufacturer. This kits had more parts and included a fuel filter and floats.

The pump diagram also has a double gasket

The diameter I'm asking about is from one side inside of the drum to the other inside of the far side of that drum.

This is a 205mm drum from factory for a 63-65 Type 3.

My calipers aren’t that wide and the tape measure I have is not precise enough to measure wear between the drums

Check out this product advertised where the pic shows what looks like double seals on the rubber parts.

Metal springs, carpet/fabric layer over springs, TMI custom fit sponges for each seat, then vinyl seat cover

Another random cleanup item.
The rubber trim on the elephant ear mirrors.
I removed the old trim sometime before 2010 and left it naked since then.

The sharp edge cut a serious slice in my forearm earlier this year when I was washing the roof. Lots of blood lost.

Let’s fix that.
I ordered part 211857515 from Wolfsburg West for a few dollars.

I was really stiff so I had to heat it up.

Before I bought my bus the interior light switch on the left side of the steering was missing. Just an empty hole for the last 18 years.

Well I had enough in my piggy bank to get an OE switch to fill the void

Not wired as yet.
The previous owner already installed door pin switches to make the lights come on when the front doors and rear hatch are opened. I disconnected the rear hatch switch but left the ones on the front door since I would have to weld up the holes if I removed them.

Saving up next for the headlight, wiper, and hazard switches on the dashboard to replace the late model beetle switches.

It may be time to change the oil cooler seals. I see small amounts of oil under the carb.
If I pull engine I’ll do the pushrod seals at the same time.
Not wanting to mess with head bolts, I got these.

Anyone use these ?

I have used two individual ones on an engine that two pushrods bent and took out the tube. It feels like they are just in there by-gosh-or-by-golly but somehow they have been drip free.
